I came across True in a book I have, i've never been able to find info on the designer on the internet! Scanned a few images out of the book (area, ISBN 0-7148-4515-9), really clever ideas, even Sagmeisters a fan.
These two photos he went around NY City changing the pedestrian traffic signs. In front of the Gap Store in Manhattan in changed the 'Walk/Don't Walk' to 'Consume?Conform'. On Malcolm X Bld. He changed it to 'No Limits/Strive'.... Another one he did outside St.Patricks Cathedral was altered to read 'Sin' and then started blinking 'Repent'! Unfortunately havent got a pic of this one :(

Another clever self commishioned project he went around with a group of friends changing the subway sinage in NY. Inspired by the boredom of the everyday warnings and do's and dont's of getting the subway this is what he came up with. Adhesive subway signage designed to look like conventional MTA(Metropolitan Transit Authority) were applied to subwau cars around New York.
Pics won't upload i'll try it again tomorrow...
